In 2006, Nathan won his second consecutive Wisconsin Challenge Series championship with a four-win streak mid-season. He is the only driver to record two championships in the WCS and holds the record of most total wins. One of those 2006 WCS victories included the event at the Milwaukee Mile where 71 cars registered. In the same season he also won the Champions Invitational at the Madison International Speedway, the CRA Super Series event at the Illiana Speedway, and finished third in Madison Late model point standings.
Nathan started racing in 1994 at the age of 16 in the Hobby Stock division. In his first year, he won Rookie of the Year honors at both the Columbus 151 Speedway and Jefferson Speedway along with the championship at Columbus 151. In 1995, he picked up both championship titles at Columbus and Jefferson. In 1996 he focused on late model competition at Columbus 151, finishing third in points, winning the Hard Charger award for passing the most cars in feature events, and capturing Rookie of the Year honors. He won the track championship in 1997 and repeated as Hard Charger. Nathan decided to branch out in 1998 and started traveling. He won a feature race at the Madison International Speedway in only his second career start in a super late model. He also competed in four NASCAR RE/MAX Challenge Series events. By 1999, he had claimed six super late model feature wins at the Dells Motor Speedway, winning the Miller Classic at Madison, and finishing the NASCAR RE/MAX Challenge Series with one Bud Pole award, two top five, and seven top ten finishes.
In 2000, Nathan competed in 17 super late model races, winning nine of them and placing in the top five in thirteen of them. He built on the previous year with a repeat win of the Miller Classic, one Bud Pole, one win, seven top five, and ten top ten finishes in the NASCAR Midwest Series.
In 2001, Nathan’s career headed to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for 12 races where he recorded four top ten finishes.
Nathan returned to super late model racing in 2002, competing in 33 feature races and winning nine. Three of his wins were in the Midwest All-Star Racing Series and he finished second in championship standings for the series. He again won the Miller Classic at Madison and recorded twenty-one top five and 25 top ten finishes for the year. In 2003, Nathan won two races at Madison and ran a limited 10-race schedule in 2004 adding another win at Madison.
In 2005, Nathan competed in both super late model and Madison Late Model races. He won the Wisconsin Challenge Series championship with three wins. Along with that, he won nine super late model feature races and five Madison Late Model races, finishing second in division standings despite missing two events. He also won the coveted Miller Lite Nationals 250-lap late model feature at the Slinger Speedway.
